Estas carencias se reflejan en la emisión de juicios de valor subjetivos, superficiales o sesgados que impactan de manera negativa en los estudiantes. Generalmente estas prácticas no resultan útiles para la toma de decisiones que tienen que llevar a cabo los diferentes actores en los distintos momentos del proceso educativo. En este documento se presenta información pertinente para que los grupos académicos de las instituciones educativas encuentren una guía práctica que coadyuve al desarrollo de las competencias necesarias para llevar a cabo una evaluación del aprendizaje congruente con los enfoques actuales de la educación basada en competencias, y útil para reorientar su intervención. Inicia con un breve marco teórico acerca del concepto de evaluación, así como las dimensiones con base en las cuales se ha desarrollado una clasificación o tipología de la evaluación, aspectos que serán de utilidad como sustento a una práctica educativa más congruente y eficaz. También se abordan aspectos metodológicos necesarios para la planeación colegiada de la evaluación del aprendizaje, el diseño y elaboración de los instrumentos y técnicas para la recogida de información y algunas reflexiones acerca del análisis e interpretación de la información para garantizar que la emisión de juicios de valor sea válida y por lo tanto útil para la mejora del proceso educativo.
