Se nos entrena para que los “quizá” o los “tal vez” no tengan lugar a medida que se desarrolla nuestro relato no importa cuan arriesgado sea el paso que se dé de un hecho a otro para construir una historia y en este estudio se ha utilizado ese mismo método. Este parece ser el espacio propicio, sin embargo para admitir incertidumbre. Este estudio es el resultado de años de investigación. He tratado de dibujar un retrato de la revolución en pueblos específicos de Guatemala y en esa porción se muestra una amplia imagen de la revolución en el área rural. Creo que algunas porciones han dado resultados positivos pero algunos cabos aun quedan sueltos. Creo que realmente nunca comprenderé qué significo la revolución para algunas comunidades individualmente. No sabré nunca exactamente como las relaciones sociales cambiaron, ¿Cómo el cambio político afectó las percepciones de poder y autoridad? o ¿Porqué algunos guatemaltecos escogieron utilizar instituciones revolucionarias para mejorar sus circunstancias económicas y otros no lo hicieron? Quizá el área a la que mi investigación y mis fuentes me han orientado en el tratar de comprender ¿Cómo la revolución afectó a las mujeres y a las relaciones de género?
