Metodología: Se estudiaron 97 pacientes con diagnóstico de cardiopatía congénita, a los cuales se les realizo análisis cromosómicos, ya sea cariotipo, análisis de hibridación in situ (FISH), o cariotipo de alto bandeo. Resultados: En el 90%, se diagnosticó alguna anormalidad cromosómica. La más frecuente fue el síndrome de Down, presente en 40%, y se relacionó principalmente con defectos septales. 24.7% tuvo un FISH positivo. De los pacientes con FISH positivo, la cardiopatía más frecuente fue la tetralogía de Fallot. A 13 pacientes se les realizó cariotipo de alto bandeo, el cual fue positivo en el 100% de los casos. Las cardiopatías más frecuentes en estos fueron los defectos septales. Conclusiones: Existe una relación entre cardiopatías congénitas y anormalidades cromosómicas.
