A pesar de ello, hoy en día se ha convertido en una fuerza social y política de primer orden y podemos encontrar proclamas y reivindicaciones de tipo ecologistas por todos los ámbitos de nuestra vida cotidiana, desde campañas de solidaridad activa y apoyo al medio ambiente en los centros comerciales o los medios de comunicación, pasando por los entornos forestales cercanos a las ciudades o en los pueblos rurales de nuestros entornos, pasando por los partidos políticos de tipo o contenido ecologista que se presentan a las elecciones presidenciales en una gran cantidad de países de todo el mundo. ¿Pero ahora nos preguntamos, de donde sale este movimiento? ¿que orígenes y precedentes tiene? ¿Ha tenido o tiene respaldo de alguna institución internacional? ¿Quiénes componen este movimiento? ¿Qué papel juega el ecologismo a día de hoy?
