              <text>Al observar con un microscopio un corte de tejido animal o vegetal, se aprecia que está constituido por pequeñas unidades similares entre sí, las células, que son la base estructural y funcional de los seres vivos.   De los estudios realizados en corcho por Robert Hooke (1665), surge la palabra "célula", que designa a las pequeñas cavidades de la pared de ese vegetal, constituido fundamentalmente por celulosa. Posteriormente, el término, se aplicó a todos los organismos vivientes microscópicos, que tienen vida independiente, es decir, a aquellos organismos que, colocados en un ambiente con las condiciones adecuadas de oxígeno, CO2, nutrientes, pH y temperatura mantienen el metabolismo celular.  </text>
