Así formulado, el tema exige lógicamente definir primero qué entendemos por cultura e identidad, porque sólo así podremos precisar sus relaciones recíprocas. Ya adelanto desde ahora que, si bien defenderé la indisociabilidad conceptual entre cultura e identidad, también afirmaré que, si se asume una perspectiva histórica o diacrónica, no existe una correlación estable o inmodificable entre las mismas, porque vistas las cosas en el mediano o largo plazo, la identidad se define primariamente por sus límites y no por el contenido cultural que en un momento determinado marca o fija esos límites.
