Este análisis se realiza a partir del reordenamiento en la nueva normatividad en curso y el significado en la teoría bibliográfica. En el modelo conceptual internacional expresado en los Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records\" (FRBR) se explicita el uso de la misma normatividad tanto para descripciones catalográficas como bibliográficas. Organismos internacionales como la IFLA responden al vertiginoso crecimiento de información en diferentes soportes unificando la descripción de los mismos para orientar a los bibliógrafos del siglo XXI.
