              <text>A historic approximation of archives and the archivist is presented through a proposal of periodization from their beginnings until the current information age, taking the research of Agustín Vivas Moreno and Concepción Mendo Carmona as a foundation. Classic bibliographic analysis was employed to present the different criteria of periodization developed by some authors and finally to propose periodization as the topic of study of this article, which in addition tries to review, primarily in the modern era, similar findings among the procedures in archives and libraries.</text>
